diamond appraisal

 

  • CROWN:
  • A) All charcteristics that breaks or touches the crown. (ex. Scratches, Abrasions) when you have to.

     

    B) All characteristics that are confined in the diamond. <Visible UNDER CROWN>

     

    C) Naturals located on the crown <upper girdle> the girdle is the side and it is marked in green.

    • PAVILLION:

    Definition below the crown and girdle the bottom of the diamond.

     

    A) Any characteristic that are located on or touches <BREAKS> the pavillion.

     

    B) ANY Inclusions <CONFINED> that can only be seen from the pavillion. Example: Pinpoints, Clouds, Needle's.

     

    BOTH CROWN AND PAVILLION

     

    A) ANY Characteristic that reaches or breaks both surfaces. Example: Feather, Cavities, Naturals, Chips, and Others.

     

    HOW:

     

    A) Plot all characteristics in their relative size and position using appropriate symbols.

     

    B) Depth and color of inclusions don't get plotted.

     

    C) NEATNESS VERY IMPORTANT.

     

    SYMBOLS:

     

    A) Plotting symbols:

     

    • Green - Blemishes
    • Red - Inclusions
    • Green and Red - Certain inclusions

    Example: Cavity, Laser Drill Hole (LDH), Indented Natural, Knots,>

    • Black - Extra Facets, Prongs or metals for mounted stone.
